Dracula: a major anti-imperealist novel.

the famous vampire novel "Dracula" by the Anglo-Irish author Bram Stoker is on the surface 'a good vampire novel.' Yet if you acutally read into it you'll find it has a strong criticsm of imperailism within it's 500 pages or so.

Count Dracula a Translavanyian Noble Man (monarchist - for the puroposes of politics here) purchases property in London from a young law clerk named Jonathan Harker
"carfax abbey." It is slowly revaled that the Count is actually a vampire...and he goes to London for one reason and one reason alone to create a vampric race with him at it's head...He wants to take over London and create a vampric-empire.

His first (implied - we are never eaxctly told but we presume he killed her) victim is a namless girl he sees outside a flower shop. Dracula ruthlessly feeded upon the Romanian people while he was back at home (e.g. kidnapping and feeding a baby to his brides) this show's that he is a total-monarchist (tyrant) and imperailist.

Dracula brainwashes the weak memembers of society (e.g. the lunathic R.M. Renfield) this is similar to how monarchs brainwashed people to their sides.

Of course Dracula's imperailist view's don't only apply to monarchism...
Dracula can also bee seen as a capitalist...At one point in the novel Harker and Arthur Holmwood (another one of the protagnoists) cut at Dracula with a knife and golden coins fall out of his pocket - he is evidently very rich.

Although marxists are guilty of imperailism along with nazis Dracula does not seem to reperseant these groups...However he is a rascist (thus some nazism) as he wants to create a vamprice master race. His actions aren't that different from modren day impearilists (e.g. America) who want an empire and want to force the world under Americanism just like Dracula does with vamprieism.

Thus the novel "Dracula" is a recommended read for anti-imperailists.
Of course it's a great work of fiction in general.
and the strong theme of friendship in it between the main characters (Marxists be-warned the main hero's are all so-called "bourgrasies") is touching.
And it's just a genuinely scary novel (in some places.)

death to empires!
