in July of 1917 the moderate capitalist liberal (see how negative I made that sound?)
Prince Levorv (or something) stepped down from power in the provsional revoultionary goverment in Russia (the one that over threw the monarchy). He was replaced by the socialist-revoultionary Alexander Kerensky.
Kerensky introduced several (badly needed)reforms into the system which included giving women more rights....Allowing women to work, fixing more equal land rates for the pesantry and increasing worker's pay. He also opened up other parties and promised new elections in the country...Sadly he continued Russia's involvment in the inmperailist war (WWI) and this lost him a lot of popularity...
In November of 1917 Kerensky delcared Russia a socialist republic....But then Vladimir Lenin overthrew him and declared Russia socialist republic (?).
If Lenin cared that much about socialism shouldn't he have just accsepted Kerensky a more moderate socialist in power instead of overthrowing him and setting up a one party state? Yes Kerensky was far from perfect but I think if he had more time he would h ave created a good social-democratic country that benifted the middle class pesantry and the working class equaly....Sadly we'll never know for sure thanks to Lenin, his awful April thesease and his hypocrtical stance on socialism.
